Sony Pictures has officially obtained the international distribution rights for the upcoming “Blade Runner” sequel. Warner Bros. Pictures is handling the distribution in North America and Canada.
Denis Villeneuve will be directing this new film that stars Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, who is reprising his role as Rick Deckard.The new film will take place several decades after the original which was released in 1982. Hampton Fancher, one of the writers of the first film, and Michael Green have written the script.
Sikes Yorkin will produce along with Johnson and Kosove. Bud Yorkin will also receive producer credit for this picture
Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble will serve as executive producers. Ridley Scott will also executive produce, as Will Bill Carraro.
for the 3rd time in his career Villeneuve will team up with multi time Oscar nominee Roger Deakins for the film.
Production on the yet-to-be-titled sequel is scheduled to start in July. No release date has been mentioned.
