The release date for Sony Pictures Animation’s upcoming film, “The Emoji Movie”, has been scheduled to open in theaters on August 11, 2017. The idea for the movie was created by its director and co-screenwriter, Anthony Leondis, and its other co-screenwriter, Eric Siegel. Leondis is also known for directing for some projects by DreamWorks, including “Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Master” and “B.O.O.: Bureau Of Otherwordly Operations.” Meanwhile, Siegel has been credited as producer for TBS’s “Men At Work” and consulting producer for ABC’s “Family Tools.” Besides Leondis and Siegel, Michelle Raimo Kouyate will also be apart of the executive team as the producer. Raimo was originally known as the production president of Sony Pictures Animation, but she stepped down from her position this past summer after a five-year run. Raimo is now signed on a first-look deal with Sony. The plot for “The Emoji Movie” is still yet to be revealed.
