Laura Linney is in talks to join Oren Moverman’s The Dinner. Linney is best known for her work in The Truman Show and Mystic River.
The Dinner is a psychological thriller is set around a dinner in Amsterdam. The story follows two brothers, one of which is running for prime minister of the Netherlands. In addition, he must deal with their teenage sons having committed a violent crime.
The film is based off a Herman Koch novel which was published in 2009.The novel was adapted in 2013 by Menno Meyjes. The adaptation was a Dutch drama which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
It was also adapted and directed by Ivano De Matteo, from Italy. The film screened at Venice International Film Festival and won the Europa Cinemas Label as best European film.
Linney will star alongside Ian McKellen in Mr. Holmes. She will be seen next in “Genius” with Colin Firth, Jude Law and Nicole Kidman. Finally her schedule is filled up with Tom Hanks in Clint Eastwood’s film Sully.
