It has been reported that Ryan Coogler will be directing the new “Black Panther,” putting to rest much of the debate regarding who would take on the job.

Coogler previously directed “Fruitvale Station,” an independent film that told the true story of Oscar Grant’s death. He was also behind the recent “Rocky” spinoff, “Creed” in which he showcased his visual style and talent for action choreography. Both films were well received by fans and critics alike.

While “Black Panther” is set for release in February 2018, the titular character will first hit the screen in “Captain America: Civil War” this May.
