After much anticipation, the first snippet of footage from The Huntsman: Winters War has been released in an action packed trailer.

The movie, which picks up some time after the evil Queen Ravanna’s death, introduces a new villain, Ice Queen Freya (Emily Blunt), the vengeful younger sister of Ravanna. The introductory plot will follow Freya in a time before the events of Snow White and the Huntsman as she began to raise an army which included the much younger Huntsman known as Eric (Chris Hemsworth) and a female warrior by the name of Sara (Jessica Chastain).

Following the two as they become fierce warriors, a love story emerges between the two–a forbidden rule of the Ice Queen’s army–causing the two to lose favor with her. Returning to the present, Freya revives her evil sister who then not only swears revenge on the Huntsmen, but requests Freya rule by her side.

The events eventually lead to the Huntsman having to once again save the kingdom, but this time he will receive help from his childhood lover and the seven dwarfs.

The Huntsman: Winters War is being produced by Joe Roth, with Oscar nominee James Newton Howard composing, and Cedric Nicholas Troyan as director. The movie’s anticipated release date is currently April 22, 2016.
