This past week saw the cast of two more power rangers for the new 2017 live action Power Rangers film. New comer Dacre Montgomery and Ludi Lin from China’s box office smash Monster Hunt, have been cast as the red and black rangers respectively.
Dean Israelite is directing the movie from a script written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. Haim Saban, Brian Casentini and Allison Shearmur will be producing the flick.
The movie is re telling of the origins of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. This group were once average high school students who are given extraterrestrial powers. They unite and become the famous array of superheroes that protect the world.
The Power Rangers have appeared both on Television (1993-1996) and on the big screen (1995). Altogether the franchise became a pop culture phenomenon.
Lionsgate and Saban Brands announced plans last year to develop and produce the live-action movie as the first of a new franchise.
Power Rangers will debut in theaters Jan. 13, 2017.
