I never have liked Twitter. Not a fan at all. I think it is an overtly silly form of social media which is not necessary, and only used to spread ridiculous ideas made by stupid average Americans. You think I am crazy, well see my point be proven in this piece of news.

For those of you who are educated college students reading this, you probably will not even believe me when I tell you that over twitter, there has erupted a group called #BoycottStarWarsVII. They exist to do just that. Why you ask? Is it because Disney abuses its corporate welfare? Is it because Boba Fett won’t make an appearance in the new feature? Nope, not that. Their reasoning for boycotting Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is because black actor John Boyega was casted as the lead actor for the new film as opposed to a white male. Do I even need to make fun of how wrong these people are? Plain ordinary racism on Twitter. We live in the year 2015 and people are still appalled at the thought of a black actor rising to fame apparently. I really can’t even believe my eyes. I am going to throw a bucket of ice over my head now just to make sure this isn’t all just a horrible dream.

I know I am not a social media fan, however I am a huge lover of the Star Wars franchise. I know Luke Skywalker has established the archetype of a classic hero in a story, but when ever was there a law laid down that a black man couldn’t take his place in the new trilogy? Did these people fall asleep in Empire Strikes Back when Lando Calrissian (played by Billy Dee Williams, another black actor) saved Chewbacca, R2D2, C3P0, and Princess Leia? What about James Earl Jones and how he established the classic vocal tracks for Darth Vader? If you are part of #BoycottStarWarsVII then you are not a Star Wars fan.
