Genesis Rodriguez has signed on to star opposite Kevin James in the upcoming Netflix comedy True Memoirs of an International Assassin, according to Variety.com.

The actress recently appeared in Warner Bros. 2015 action crime thriller Run All Night alongside Liam Neeson. She also starred in Kevin Smith’s 2014 horror comedy Tusk, among Disney’s Big Hero Six, Man on a Ledge, and Identity Thief.

True Memoirs of an International Assassin, Kevin James plays an accountant mistaken for an assassin when his novel is accidentally published as nonfiction, and he is forced to flee to Belize. Rodriguez will play a DEA agent who rescues James’s character from drug dealer captors, blowing her cover in the process.

The film will be directed by Jeff Wadlow, while Palmstar will produce with Kevin Frakes, Todd Garner, Raja Collins, and Justin Begnaud. Jeff Morris wrote the script, which first appeared on The Black List (blklst.com).

Netflix acquired distribution rights at this year’s Cannes Film festival. Shooting will begin next month in Atlanta and the Dominican Republic, and the film will debut exclusively on the streaming service next year.
