The Dancer, a drama based o the life of performer Loie Fuller, has cast its main dancer: Lily-Rose Depp. The young star joins a cast of international stars such as Gaspard Ulliel, Melanie Thierry, Francois Damiens, and Louis-Do du Lencquesanig.

Depp will star as a San Francisco native Isadora Duncan, who rises from poverty to become a famous dance prodigy known around the world. Duncan played a critical role Fuller’s life, who was born in America and received international recognition for developing the Serpentine dance.

The film is Stephanie Di Giusto’s directorial debut. Alain Attal will co produce with Vincent Maraval along with Jean-Pierre, Luc Dardenne (Les Films du Fleuve) and Artemio Benki from Sirena Films.

Depp will also be featured next to Natalie Portman in Revecca Zlotowski’s Planetarium, though The Dancer will begin filming September 28th
