To Transformers fans who have been keeping up with the movie series, you will be happy to know that Paramount Pictures have announced a fifth “Transformers” movie as well as an animated film too.

Transformers 5 is a direct sequel to last summers Transformers: Age of Extinction and will star Mark Wahlberg, set to reprise his role. “Age of Extinction” grossed over $1.1 billion at the global box office with all four films combined grossing over $3.7 billion.

As of now Akiva Goldsman, writer of A Beautiful Mind is set to write Transformers 5 while Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari will write the animated film. Previous writers of Michael Bay’s Transformers movies include Art Marcum and Matt Holloway writers of Iron Man, and Ken Nolan who wrote Black Hawk Down.

It has not been confirmed yet whether Michael Bay will direct this sequel. Michael Bay is known for directing not just all four previous Transformers, but has recently finished the military thriller 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi starring Pablo Schreiber, John Krasinski, James Badge Dale, David Denman, Max Martini and Dominic Fumusa and is slated to hit the big screen January 15th, 2016.
