Disney has released the first teaser for its upcoming live-action version of “The Jungle Book” and certainly has a very different vibe than its animated counterpart. Narrated by a near creepy, echoey voiceover by Kaa (Scarlett Johansson) while showing different sections of the jungle and the animals that live there, the trailer shows that this live action version will be much more dramatic. With the score building tension throughout this small look at the film, Mowgli (Neel Sethi) is running or escaping almost the entire second half with alternating between shots of big animals. Kaa’s narration ends with the lines “trust in me” in a tone that says otherwise. The trailer does end on a lighter note, showing Mowgli floating down a river with Baloo as “The Bear Necessities” is briefly whistled. If anything can be taken away from this teaser it’s that Disney is definitely not holding anything back on this film, it looks to be big budget and on-par with it’s previous live action adaptations like Maleficent and Cinderella. Directed by Jon Favreau, and featuring a voice cast that includes Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Christopher Walken, Lupita Nyong’o and more, Disney’s The Jungle Book will hit theaters on April 15, 2016. Scroll down for the trailer.
