With the highly anticipated release of Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens coming later this year, it was only a matter of time before other companies would begin to try to cash in on the popular franchise. In this case, it’s a small trailer by DreamWorks for their upcoming film, Kung Fu Panda 3. The trailer starts off with some deep breathing, reminiscent of a certain Sith Lord and then continues with the well known phrase “I am your father.” The lines are spoken by the charter Li (Bryan Cranston) who is the father of the main character Po (Jack Black). A brief but humorous exchange between Po and Mr. Ping (James Hong) finishes out the roughly 30 second trailer. Additionally new details about the plot have been revealed as Kung Fu Panda 3 will involve Po’s long-lost panda father reappearing and the two of them traveling to a secret panda paradise. However there is trouble when super villain Kai (J.K. Simmons) starts sweeping across China and defeating all the kung fu masters. This results in Po having to teach his new village how to become a mighty force of kung fu pandas. Interestingly enough, Kung Fu Panda 3 was originally going to be released on December 23 of this year (almost one week after Star Wars: Episode VII), however the release date was relatively recently moved to January 29, 2016.
