One of Rap/Hip Hop’s Legendary DJ’s Greg “Mack Attack” Mack, is getting his very own bio-pic movie. Back in the day when Rap wasn’t as big as it was now Mack championed up-and-coming rappers and established himself as a music pioneer when his station, 1580 KDAY become the first 24 hour Rap station in America. Starting off on the AM frequency, Mack’s AM station has developed a lasting legacy and he was responsible for the discovery and rise of numerous rappers including MC Hammer, LL Cool J, and Queen Latifah. Mack also heavily supported N.W.A as they rose to prominence in the rap game. In later years KDAY soon transitioned to FM in 2004 and they still play classic hip-hop today. His story is one of a man who fought to ensure that these artists could have their voices heard by the millions in a serious, thoughtful way.
The film will be based on Mack’s yet to be released autobiography, and he will be direct;y involved in the project as an executive producer. Mack appeared as a minor character in Straight Outta Compton the N.W.A movie. Speaking of Straight Outta Compton, production on this new movie on Greg Mack comes at a time when Straight Outta Compton is running the box office right now and has made it possible for more rap bio-pics to be made.
Greg Mack’s Autobiography is set to be released at the end of the year and one can expect the movie to begin production sometime around that time.
