Since 2002 Leonardo Dicaprio and director Martin Scorsese have been a powerhouse duo. The two have collaborated 5 times and with the exception of Shutter Island each of their collaborations have went on to became Oscar nominated pictures. The Departed being the one out of that 5 to win the big prize. Now once again the two team up for a new movie known as The Devil in the White City.
The film is based on the 2003 novel of the same name and according to Crown Publishing the Synopsis is as follows:
“Their fates were linked by the magical Chicago World’s Fair of 1893, nicknamed the “White City” for its majestic beauty. Architect Daniel Burnham built it; serial killer Dr. H. H. Holmes used it to lure victims to his World’s Fair Hotel, designed for murder. Both men left behind them a powerful legacy, one of brilliance and energy, the other of sorrow and darkness.
Here, then, is your ticket to the greatest fair in history—a place where incredible dreams came to life alongside darkest nightmares.”
DiCaprio is set to play the part of Mr. Holmes.
“I think that a guy who is that intelligent and that charismatic is nothing less than complex, and it’s that complexity that (DiCaprio) is drawn to,” said Jennifer Killoran DiCaprio’s producing partner when discussing the project a few years ago. “And because people don’t know much about him, it makes it even more interesting.”
No one knows when This film will be released but it will be distributed by Paramount pictures and written by Academy Award nominated write Billy Ray (Captain Phillips, The Hunger Games).
Dicaprio will next be seen in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant on Christmas Day while Martin Scorsese’s next feature Silence which stars Andrew Garfield, Liam Neeson and Ken Watanabe has yet to receive a release date.
