Resident Evil is known for bringing back characters from earlier in the series and now reports confirmed that this will occur in the last episode. Ali Larter will return to the series as her role as Claire Redfield. Larter is best known for her role as Niki Sanders/ Tracy Strauss/ Jessica Sanders in the 2006- 2010 NBC show Heroes. Larter first started appearing in the movies with 2007’s Resident Evil Extinction. She continued her role for Resident Evil: Afterlife. She did not take part in 2012’s Resident Evil: Retribution. Although there was no mention as to how her character will be fitting into the plot of the new film, director Paul W.S. Anderson thought it would be fitting to bring back Larter’s character for the franchise’s end. He decided that he would write a role for Claire Redfield in his screenplay. Her character did not die in Resident Evil: Afterlife, however Claire’s absence in Resident Evil: Retribution was explained at the end of Resident Evil: Afterlife. Claire and her brother, Chris, played by Wentworth Miller, were captured by a brainwashed Jill Valentine, played by Sienna Guillory, and taken hostage by the Umbrella Corporation. Wentworth Miller has not yet announced a return for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. The only known plot of this upcoming film is that it picks up shortly after where Resident Evil: Retribution left off. This upcoming film will be the fourth movie in a row to be directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and filming for this film will take place in South Africa next month. It is likely that Ali Larter won’t be the only actress from a previous movie that will make a return. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will hit theaters on September 2, 2016.
