Director Robert Eggers, who won the Best Director U.S. Dramatic prize at Sundance for the horror film The Witch, has just signed on to write and direct an untitled remake of the German horror flick Nosferatu.The original 1922 silent film plot revolves around a vampire named Count Orlok and is an unofficial adaption of Dracula, but plot details on Egger’s remake are unknown.

Eggers will take on the vampire classic with producers Jay Van Hoy and Lars Knudsen by his side and Studio 8. His film The Witch, which was a hit at Sundance, will get a wide release but dates are unknown. Eggers is also writing and directing a medieval film for Studio 8 as well entitled The Knight.

Nosferatu has no release date, and no pre production details.
