It has truly been a long time since i was this obsessed with a trailer for a movie and i cant seem to stop looking at the first bit of footage for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. At first i was really turned off about the looks of each character but thank god this footage changed my mind completely. The trailer first begins with a conversation Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) has with a government official at a restaurant. they discuss how they finally have got the people needed for a special task force who we all know is the Suicide Squad. scenes cut to the prison all the members are in and after the conversation ends we get some fine shots of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) hanging upside down in her cage, Deadshot (Will Smith) punching the hell of a boxing bag, El Diablo’s (Jay Hernandez) tattoed self smoking, Enchantress (Cara Delevigne) seemingly trying to come to terms with whats happening to her, and Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) in a Hannibal lector Mask. later on we see the rest of this rag tag group which includes Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnamen), Slipknot (Adam Beach) and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney who sports his Australian accent for this one)
The trailer also shows how this group will be set to try and save the world from a greater evil that hasn’t been revealed yet. One of the more interesting aspect of it that i liked was how there are many shots of their past lives or scenes to indicate their past lives such as a Enchantress when she was known as June Moon and Rick Flagg being intimate, Harley Quinn’s terrifying experience and soon transformation with The Joker (Jared Leto) as well as her joy ride with him and finally Deadshot with seemingly family. However i think we all know the action scenes as well as the return of the clown prince of crime on the big screen were the real highlights of the trailer. However it must be said that seeing all of these villains together and on the big screen is incredible to say the least. In fitting and perfect fashion Jared Leto finishes the trailer by delivering the line “Oh im not gonna kill ya…I’m just gonna hurt ya really really bad”.
I cannot explain how excited I am to see this film now! so many actors in roles you would never expected them to play. This is especially apparent for Will Smith who usually plays heroes but now he’s playing an anti-hero someone with less morality than any of his other roles hes done. As far as who will steal the shwo It’s a tossup between Jared Leto’s take on the Joker and Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn who is being brought to life on the big screen for the first time. Either way this will be stellar summer hit next year and possibly a groundbreaking Comic book film as a “villain supergroup” movie has never been done before.
