Ridley Scott is preparing for his next film, the true crime drama “All the Money in the World,“ and has found his lead actor. Variety has been told that teen actor Charlie Plummer has been cast as J. Paul Getty III, the kidnapped grandson of billionaire J. Paul Getty. Sony will be distributing the film.
The true story involves J. Paul’s kidnapping by a left-wing paramilitary group while in Italy in 1973. However, when the ransom demand for $17 million was sent to Getty (Kevin Spacey), the oil tycoon refused. Michelle Williams will also star as J. Paul’s mother Gail Harris, with Mark Wahlberg playing Getty’s confidant Fletcher Chase.
Plummer is best known for his roles in “King Jack” and “The Dinner.“ He is also known for being a runner-up for the role of Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War” before it went to Tom Holland. This is based off of David Scarpa‘s blacklisted script by the same name. Scott will be directing the film. No release date has been announced for “All the Money in the World.”
