Jeremy Renner has just been cast as famous gunslinger Doc Holliday in a new biopic film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Renner will star in a film produced by PalmStar Media that is based off the books Doc and Epitaph: A Novel of the O.K. Corral by Mary Doria Russell. Renner and Don Handfield will produce the film under their production banner The Combine.
Renner Hansfield state in a joint statement: “We are excited to re-introduce this classic American character to a whole new audience by chronicling Doc Holliday’s incredible transformation from average Joe dentist to a man who Wyatt Earp called the ‘nerviest, speediest, deadliest man with a six-gun [he] ever knew.’”
The film will supposedly follow John Henry ‘Doc’ Holliday as he goes from a humble Atlanta dentist into a gunfighter that fought with Wyatt Earp at O.K. Corral. Renner will be joining actors like Kirk Douglas, Val Kilmer, and Dennis Quaid that have portrayed Holliday. Currently, no release or title for the film has come out.
