A teaser trailer has just dropped for the anticipated 8th installment of Star Wars, “Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi.“ It begins with Rey (Daisy Ridley) gasping for air near a cave entrance. It is clear that she is still on the remote island where “The Force Awakens” ended, with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), telling her to breath. Luke then tells Rey to reach out, and she begins to use the force.
Luke asks Rey what she sees, and she says its light and darkness. As Rey is telling Luke what she sees in the force, there are flashes the back of Leia Organa (the late Carrie Fisher), a destroyed helmet, and a chest with the Jedi symbol. It then shows Rey training with her lightsaber with Luke saying it’s so much bigger.
A Resistance base being blown apart, with Finn (John Boyega) still in a coma and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) fleeing with droid BB-8. There are new locations shown, and more space battles with the Millennium Falcon. There are also brief glimpses of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) with the scar given to him by Rey, and of Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) leading stormtroopers in. The teaser ends with Luke saying, “I only know one truth: it’s time for the Jedi to end.”
The film will also see the return of Andy Serkis (Supreme Leader Snoke), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), and Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata). It will also introduce Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran into the cast. Rian Johnson directs the film from a script he wrote. “Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi” will release December 15, 2018.
