Despite already being cast as a Marvel character, actor Josh Brolin has been cast in another Marvel role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brolin has been cast as the time-traveling X-Men character Cable for 20th Century Fox‘s “Deadpool 2.“ He will be joining Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Zazie Beetz as Domino.
This is unexpected, as Brolin was not mentioned as a frontrunner for casting like with other actors Michael Shannon and David Harbour. It also conflicts with the fact that Brolin is in “Avengers: Infinity War” from Disney as the main villain Thanos. It is unknown if there will be recasts for Thanos for the 4th Avengers film or if he can do both Thanos and Cable.
David Leitch is directing the project, taking over from previous director Tim Miller. Drew Goddard is helping write the script with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. “Deadpool 2” will have a release sometime in 2018.
