It looks like Joss Wheton is going from Marvel into DC Comics. Variety reports that Whedon is set to write, direct, and produce “Batgirl,“ centering on the titular ally of Batman. Warner Bros. is in negotiations with Wheton for this project.
The film will revolve around the most popular and well-known Batgirl, Barbara Gordon. The daughter of Commissioner James Gordon, Barbara would be inspired to done a costume and fight crime after seeing how much influence Batman had on Gotham City. She would also become the leader of the all-female superhero group Birds of Prey.
Geoff Johns and Jon Berg will oversee the project with president and chief content officer of Warner Bros. Pictures Group Toby Emmerich. No release date is set for “Batgirl.”
