It is common that we see a youthful Disney star grow up to act in more high brow and mature roles over time. Look at Zac Efron as he started acting in “High School Musical” and ended up co-starring next to Seth Rogen in the 2014 raunchy comedy “Neighbors.“ Likewise, Ross Lynch started his career out as a former Disney star, acting in Disney shows such as “Austin & Ally,“ but now he has apparently graduated from that stage and moved on to more serious roles. As of now he is set to play serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in the new film, “My Friend Dahmer.“
Jeff Dahmer was known for murdering 17 men over a 13 year period of time. However, this film will focus on his life before such crimes occurred, his growing up and high school years will be depicted through the narrative of Dahmer’s friend Derf (Alex Wolff).
The movie is based off Derf Backderf’s nonfiction graphic novel by the same name and written for the screen and directed by Marc Meyers. It is an almost unanimous consensus among the cast and crew that Ross Lynch looks the part of Dahmer almost perfectly. “My Friend Dahmer” will premiere at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival this April.
