A new trailer has recently been released for 20th Century Fox’s upcoming science-fiction/horror film “Alien: Covenant.” The film takes place after the events in 2012’s “Prometheus” and is the second film in a planned trilogy of “Alien” films, which are set prior to the events of the original “Alien” from 1979. The film is directed by Ridley Scott, who directed both the original “Alien” as well as “Prometheus,” and stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterson, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, and Carmen Ejogo.
The trailer sets the tone for the thrills that should be expected in this latest “Alien” installment. The crew of the titular ship, the Covenant, land on a planet they believe is abandoned in hopes to colonize it for the future. Things are not as they seem, however, and the dark world they have arrived to starts to attack.
The second half of the trailer does a great job montaging the horror that this movie will contain, hinting at all the disturbing and violent events that will certainly end up occurring. And Katherine Waterson looks like a perfect fit for the character who is certainly modeled after Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley.
“Alien: Covenant” is set to arrive to theaters this summer on May 19.
