While Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been working hard on the script for “Deadpool 2,“ the writers may have help finishing it. Collider reports that Drew Goddard and “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds will finish up the script that Reese and Wernick wrote. As authorwrites, both Goddard and Reynolds are “bunkered down, working on the script together, trying to cross the finish line and create something everyone is excited to make.”
Goddard is best known for writing and directing the cult horror-comedy film, “The Cabin in the Woods.“ He also wrote the script for 2008’s “Cloverfield” and has worked with Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams on numerous television projects. Goddard was also meant to direct “The Martian” and be the showrunner for Marvel and Netflix‘s “Daredevil,“ but left both projects to pursue Sony‘s now cancelled Spider-Man spinoff “Sinister Six.“ Supposedly he is adapting Daniel H. Wilson‘s novel Robopocalypse for film.
David Leitch is directing the project for 20th Century Fox. “Deadpool 2” comes out on March 2, 2018.
