Two more characters have just been revealed to be appearing in Warner Bros. and DC Comics film, “Aquaman.“ First, The Hollywood Reporter states that actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been cast to play Black Manta, the iconic villain of Aquaman aka Arthur Curry (Jason Mamoa). Abdul-Mateen is a newcomer most recognized for playing the character Cadillac in the Netflix 70s music show, “The Get Down.“ He is also set to appear in films like “Boundaries,“ “Baywatch,” “The Greatest Showman,“ and “First Match.“
Meanwhile, THR also reports that Nicole Kidman is in talks to be in the film. The character that she may play would be Atlanna, the mother of Arthur and Arthur’s half-brother Orm aka Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson). Currently, Kidman is nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Lion.“
The movie will also star Amber Heard as Arthur’s love interest Mera and Willem Dafoe as Aquaman’s advisor Nuidis Vulko. James Wan directs a script from Will Beall based off of a story from Wan and Geoff Johns. “Aquaman” is in production and will release on October 5, 2018.
