Marvel has just released a full plot synopsis for its upcoming film, “Black Panther. It is also the first day of production for the film at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta. Here is the synopsis:

“Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the events of “Captain America: Civil War, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T’Challa’s mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk. 

Chadwick Boseman will reprise his role as T’Challa aka Black Panther for the film, having been introduced in “Civil War.” Also in the cast is Michael B. Jordan as main villain Erik Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o as Dora Milaje bodyguard and love interest Nakia, Danai Guria as fellow Dora Milaje Okoye. Also cast is Daniel Kaluuya as T’Challa’s best friend W’Kabi, Angela Bassett as T’Challa’s surrogate mother Ramonda, Forest Whitaker as T’Challa’s advisor Zuri, and Winston Duke as villain M’Baku aka Man-Ape, and Sterling K. Brown as N’Jobu, a figure from T’Challa’s past.

Along with this, it was confirmed that actors from previous Marvel films will be returning. This includes Martin Freeman as CIA officer Everett K. Ross, Andy Serkis as arms dealer Ulysses Klau aka the Klaw, and Florence Kasumba as Ayo the Dora Milaje from “Civil War.” Also announced in casting is John Kani as T’Challa’s father, King T’Chaka, who died in “Civil War,” along with a reveal that actress Letitia Wright in an unspecified role. Supposedly, there will be scenes in the 1990s to delve further into T’Challa’s past.

The film is directed by Ryan Coogler with Coogler and Joe Robert Cole writing the script. “Black Panther” comes out February 18, 2018.
