After being in talks with Disney, actor Woody Harrelson has officially signed on to be in the Han Solo spinoff of Star Wars. It was announced today on the official Star Wars website, StarWars.com. While the specifics are not known, Harrelson will be playing a mentor character who teaches Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) the ropes of being a smuggler and scoundrel in a galaxy far, far away.
The film’s directors, Phil Lord and Christ Miller, told StarWars.com, “We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody. His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”
The film has also cast Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian) and Emilia Clarke, and is said to feature Chewbacca in the movie. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur, and Simon Emanuel are producing the spinoff. The untitled Han Solo spinoff comes out May 25, 2018.
