Despite a lukewarm reception from the 3rd film, “The Expendables” will be returning for a fourth film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, previous “Expendable” distributor Splendid Films have acquired the rights to distribute “The Expendables 4” in the German-speaking regions of Europe. There is no word on who will be in the film, and if “Expendables” regulars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, or Arnold Schwarzenegger would be returning.
Despite “The Expendables” franchise being geared towards a male audience, Splendid Films is mostly known for having female-focused films. The Cologne-based distributor is set to distribute “Home Again,“ starring Reese Witherspoon and produced by Nancy Meyers. Splendid also has distribution rights to recent award-winner “Moonlight,“ the horror film “Winchester“ starring Helen Mirren, the Antonio Banderas-starrer “Stoic,“ and “Unchained” with John Malkovich and Adrien Brody. “The Expendables 4” is set to come out sometime in 2018.
