“The Fate of the Furious” is the 8th film in the Fast and Furious movie series. The trailer starts off as many action movie previews begin with a breaking explosion to a car chase to put us in the middle of the action. It is revealed that our heroes Dom (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) are retired from street racing and about to settle down when a mysterious woman named Cipher, played by Charlize Theron, who convinces Dom to betray his crew. Luke Hobbs (Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson) winds up in prison with past villain Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham). A majority of the trailer however is cut up and unspecific with a narrative, but of course that is what all good trailers are. With all of the explosions, one could easily mistake it for a Michael Bay film as it has all of his classic trademarks; destruction, beautiful women, and the United States military. The last line in the trailer is The Rock driving on ice as he says “We’re gonna need a bigger car truck” and it is then revealed that a giant submarine is chasing them.

“The Fate of the Furious” will add newcomers include Scott Eastwood, Kurt Russell, and Helen Mirren. The film is directed by F. Gary Gray, and will hit theaters April 14, 2017.
