“Aquaman” has already cast Jason Mamoa as the titular hero, and now a DC Comics and Warner Bros. may have found its villain. Sources tell Deadline that actor Patrick Wilson has been cast as Orm, the Atlantean half-brother to Arthur Curry aka Aquaman. In the comics, Orm is at first happy that Arthur is back in his life, and freely gives his older half-human brother the throne. However, their opposing viewpoints on the surface world causes Orm to attempt a coup against Aquaman, becoming the villain Ocean Master.

Wilson has previously been in another DC Comic film, first getting attention from his performance as Dan Dreiberg aka Nite Owl in Zack Snyder‘s adaption of “Watchmen. He has also gained recognition in “Aquaman” director James Wan‘s horror films, “Insidious” and “The Conjuring. He also starred in the film “Bone Tomahawk” and was a main character on the second season of FX‘s “Fargo. Wilson is set to be in the Ray Kroc/McDonald’s biopic “The Founder and in the action thriller “The Commuter.

The film also stars Amber Heard as Arthur’s Atlantean lover Mera and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Arthur’s advisor. Wan directs the film with scripting coming from Will Beall. “Aquaman” comes out on October 5, 2018.
