The Mummy is back! Universal has released the first trailer for the reboot of “The Mummy,“ a paranormal action-packed thriller. The trailer begins with star, Tom Cruise, with a mysterious coffin, on board a flight that crashes due to unusual circumstances. Moments later, it appears as if Cruise’s character dies and then comes back to life. The trailer also gives fans a glimpse at the films top monster, an ancient royal mummy, on a path of destruction.
The reboot will be based on an earlier Universal mummy storyline from the 1930s. The story follows Ahmanet, a mummy princess who was somehow “robbed of her destiny” and is now coming to claim what she’s owed. Archeologist Nick Morton and his team set out to stop her but the mummy’s curse on Nick makes his difficult task even harder.
Tom Cruise plays the role of Nick Morton, and Sofia Boutella will play opposite of him as Ahmanet, the Mummy. The pair is joined by a cast including Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, and Russell Crowe. “The Mummy” arrives in theaters on June 9, 2017.
