After making his blockbuster debut in this year’s “Captain America: Civil War” and starring in next year’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” Tom Holland is in negotiation to sign onto another big-budget project. Holland would join “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” star Daisy Ridley for Lionsgate’s post-apocalyptic thriller “Chaos Walking.” The film, which is an adaptation of Patrick Ness’ Young Adult best-selling novel, will be directed by Doug Liman.
The story is set in a fictional world where all women have died due to a germ and now all living things can hear each other’s thoughts in a stream of images, words and sounds referred to as ‘Noise.’ Holland would play a boy that is forced to flee his town along with his dog and comes across the sight of a girl, played by Ridley.
The script has been worked on by Oscar-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman, as well as “Money Monster” screenwriter Jamie Linden. The film will be produced by Doug Davison, who is also producing Liman’s upcoming “America Made,” as well as Allison Shearmur. “Chaos Walking” is currently slated for a 2018 release date.
