“Choose life.” That was the first thing said by Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) at the beginning of the trailer for 1996’s “Trainspotting.“ Now, after 20 years, Renton is saying those exact same words for a new generation in the new trailer for the film’s sequel, “T2: Trainspotting.“ The trailer showcases the trouble that Renton, Daniel “Spud” Murphy (Ewen Bremner), Simon “Sick Boy” Williamson (Jonny Lee Miller), and Francis “Franco” Begbie (Robert Carlyle) get into in director Danny Boyle‘s unique film style.
The trailer begins with Renton meeting back up Sick Boy in a bar he owns, with Sick Boy asking where Renton was for 20 years. There is also a get-together with Spud and Renton’s old flame Diane (Kelly MacDonald). However, problems arise with the return of Begbie, who has just been released from a prison sentence caused by Renton in the first film. More images of the movie flashes as Renton talks about choosing all modern, crappy things, including life, over heroin. The trailer ends with Renton get up from being hit by a car, leaning over it, and laughing like he did in the first film.
John Hodge wrote the script for this film based on the book Porno by Irvine Welch. “T2: Trainspotting” arrives on January 27, 2017.
