Audiences are gearing up for “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,“ which hits theaters on November 18, as new information is being revealed about the sequel. It’s now been confirmed that Johnny Depp will play a co-starring role in the franchises second film. David Yates will direct the film early next year, and Eddie Redmayne will return to play the lead role of Newt Scamander.
Although Depp’s character is being kept under wraps, you might spot him in a tiny cameo it the first installment of the J.K. Rowling-created Harry Potter spinoff. Depp’s recent roles include the Mad Hatter in Alice Through the Looking Glass and he’s also reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the soon the be released fifth installment of Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.“ Depp will also be taking roles in “Labryinth,“ the drama about the murders of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls, and “The Invisible Man.“
Earlier this month, J.K. Rowling announced that she has finished the plot for five films in the “Fantastic Beast” franchise. The series follows the adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards, 70 years before Harry Potter began. No release date has been announced for the sequel to “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”
