Jack O’Connell made his big break as the lead in the Louis Zamperini biopic, “Unbroken.“ Now, O’Connell has been cast as another real-life person, in Pathé untitled biopic of fashion designer Alexander McQueen. Entertainment Weekly broke the news about the film, which will focus on McQueen’s final showing before his suicide in 2010.
Pathé released this statement about the film’s plot: “In 2009, Alexander McQueen put on one of his greatest shows — a stunningly beautiful re-working of his greatest designs from the past 15 years. It was a show that he dedicated to his mother and one in which he tried to make sense of his life and art. The film explores McQueen’s creative process in the months leading up to the show, providing an intimate portrait of the man behind the global brand — a moving celebration of a visionary genius whose designs transcended fashion to become art.”
Andrew Haigh will direct the film with playwright Chris Urch writing the script. Damien Jones is producing the project. The biopic is set to begin production in spring of 2017. No release date has been announced.
