New photos have been revealed for Stephen Merchant‘s character Caliban in the last Wolverine film, “Logan.“ Merchant shared the picture of his face being covered in a black and white setting, while director James Mangold shared a picture of the albino mutant fully unmasked. Tómas Lemarquis previously played Caliban in a smaller role in “X-Men: Apocalypse.“
In the comics, Caliban first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #148 in 1981 as a member of the Morlocks, a group of sewer-dwelling mutants. Despite his timid nature and limited IQ, Caliban was still useful to the Morlocks and X-Men for his ability to sense other mutants. It later on after an event called the Mutant Massacre that killed most of his Morlock friends, Caliban joined X-Factor. However, he would later join the mutant Apocalypse (who was portrayed by Oscar Isaac in “Apocalypse”) and become the horseman War in order to gain more power and confidence.
Hugh Jackman will return as Logan aka Wolverine, with Patrick Stewart also returning as Professor Charles Xavier. Boyd Holbrook will play the villain Donald Pierce, Richard E. Grant will play villainous scientist Dr. Zander Rice, and Sienna Novikov will play mutant Laura Kinney aka X-23. “Logan” will come out March 3, 2017.
