Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams are set to star in an adaption Naomi Alderman‘s novel, “Disobedience.“ Variety reported this, which states that Weisz is already set to star while McAdams is still in negotiation. The film is written by Sebastian Lelio and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, with Lelio directing the project.
In the project, Weisz plays a woman who returns to her Orthodox Jewish community to bury her dead rabbi father. However, a rekindled bond with her married best friend (McAdams) causes the woman to exhume a desire and love towards the friend, causing upheaval within the community.
Ed Guiney of Element Pictures, Frida Torresblanco of Braven Films, and Film 4 are producing the project with Weisz. “Disobedience” is set to begin production sometime in the first quarter of 2017, with a release date later in 2017.
