A new synopsis has been revealed for “War for the Planet of the Apes,“ the third installment of the “Planet of the Apes” reboot. The synopsis was revealed at the New York Comic Con, with a panel that included star Andy Serkis, director Matt Reeves, and producer Dylan Clark. The panel showed behind-the-scenes footage along with a clip showing main character Caesar (Serkis) leading an army in guerrilla warfare. Here is the synopsis:
“In “War for the Planet of the Apes,” the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel (Woody Harrelson). After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.”
The film will also see the return of Judy Greer as Caesar’s lover Cordelia, while actor Max Lloyd-Jones has been cast as Caesar’s son Blue-Eyes. Steve Zahn is set to play an ape and Gabriel Chavarria will play a Preacher. Reeves wrote the script with Mark Bomback. “War for the Planet of the Apes” will come out on July 14, 2017.
