Will Ferrell has just dropped out of a project he was meant to star in, but at an inconvenient time. The Hollywood Reporter broke that Ferrell has dropped out of the indie comedy “Captain Dad” days before production was supposed to begin. It is unknown why Ferrell dropped out at this time, but writer and director Sebastian Silva and producers Anne Carey, Bingo Gubelmann, Benji Kohn, and Austin Stark are now scrambling to replace Ferrell.
In the film, a familyCaribbean vacation lead by dad Rich Peelman (Ferrell) breaks down when their plans go off the rails. It also stars Michael Cera, Catherine Keener, and Jack Kilmer. Despite Ferrell’s recent exit, producers believe that they can find a lead in time to not cancel production. “Captain Dad” will come out on 2017.
