Christoph Waltz may be known for playing villains, but his next role will be that of a mentor instead of an antagonist. The Hollywood Reporter states that Waltz is in talks to star in the adaption of “Alita: Battle Angel” opposite to star Rosa Salazar. In the film, Waltz would be playing Dr. Dyson Ido, a cybersergeon who finds discarded and amnesiatic cyborg Alita (Salazar) and mentors her into using her programmed abilities for good as a bounty hunter.
James Cameron wrote the script with Laeta Kalogridis based of the manga by Yukito Kishiro. The film was in development hell and originally had Cameron as director, but now will have Robert Rodriguez behind the helm. “Alita: Battle Angel” is set to come out July 20, 2018.
