A second trailer has dropped for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” during the coverage of the 2016 Olympics by NBC. In the trailer there are story details revealed surrounding characters Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and Rebel Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). There are also new dialogue and details revealed about Rebel extremist Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker), assassin Baze Malbus (Wen Jiang) and his blink monk companion Chirrut Îmwe (Donnie Yen), and unfiltered former Imperial droid K-2SO (Alan Tudyk). There are also shots of the planets, battles, and other characters such as main villain Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) and intense former Imperial ship worker Bodhi Rook(Riz Ahmed). However, at the end of the trailer, a shot of the back of a helmet can be seen with heavy breathing.
Along with this trailer, a synopsis has been released as follows: From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.
Gareth Edwards directs the film with Chris Weitz writing the script. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur, and Simon Emanuel are producers along with executive producers John Knoll and Jason McGatlin. “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” comes out on December 16, 2016.
