How does one deal with unimaginable grief and fear? That is a question that director J.A. Bayona may answer, as a new international trailer has come for his film “A Monster Calls.“ Based of the acclaimed novel by Patrick Ness and illustrated Jim Kay, the script was adapted by Ness himself. Entertainment One and Summit Entertainment are producing the film.
For 13-year-old Conor O’Malley (Lewis MacDougall), life has become hard to cope with. His mum (Felicity Jones) is dying of cancer, he’s bullied at school, his dad (Toby Kebbell) has abandoned the family, and his grandma (Sigourney Weaver) is cold and distant towards him. However, Connor has found solace in the form of a tree-like monster (Liam Neeson).
The film is produced by Belén Atienza, Mitch Horwits, and Jonathan King. It will be distributed by Focus Features. “A Monster Calls” will come on October 21, 2016.
