In most boxing movies, fictional or not, the main character usually has to overcome something. However, real-life boxer Vinny “Paz” Pazienza had to face the hardest struggle after a car accident, which will be shown in Open Road Films‘ “Bleed for This.“ The film stars Miles Teller, Aaron Eckhart, Katey Segal, and Ciarán Hinds.
In “Bleed for This,” Vinny Paz (Teller) is on top of the world after having achieved the title of World Champion. However, things change when a car accident breaks Vinny’s neck, with the possibility being that he would never box, or even walk again. Despite this and the protests of his family (Segal and Hinds), Vinny begins to painfully train himself back up with the help of his trainer Kevin Rooney (Eckhart). It is after 13 months that Vinny is able to actually get back in the ring, and reclaim his title.
The film is written and directed by Ben Younger, with story by Younger, Pippa Bianco, and Angelo Pizzo. It is produced by Bruce Cohen and Emma Tillinger Koskoff, with Martin Scorsese as executive producer. “Bleed for This” will come on November 4, 2016.
