Bradley Cooper is about to make his directorial debut with a remake of “A Star is Born,“ and he may have found is star. Deadline reports that singer/actress Lady Gaga is up for the lead role. This report was rumored after paparazzi photos showed Gaga riding a motorcycle with Cooper, which was testing for the Warner Bros. film.
Beyonce was once up for the role, but it now looks as though Gaga will be taking this role. Lady Gaga, real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, recently began her acting career in a starring role as the Countess in FX‘s “American Horror Story: Hotel.“ That role won her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Miniseries or Television Film. She is set to reappear in the following “American Horror Story” series.
In the film, the story centers on an aspiring singer and actess who is helped by an established actor find fame. However, as she becomes more successful, the actor own career begins to spiral through age and alcoholism. Originally, the film was made in 1954 and starred Judy Garland and James Mason. Another remake was made in 1976 and starred Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. Therefore, this will be the third remake of “A Star is Born,” which currently has no release date.
