The film adaption of the anime “Death Note” has added another actor to its cast. Keith Stanfield has just been cast in an unknown role in the film. Full name Lakeith Lee Stanfield, the actor is best know for playing Marcus in “Short Term 12,“ Bug in “Dope,“ and a brief role as Snoop Dogg in “Straight Outta Compton.“ His next features will be “War Machine” with Brad Pitt and “Snowden” with Joseph Gordon Levitt.
The anime centers on high school genius Light Yagami, who finds a notebook that can kill anyone whose name is written on it. Believing the book to the ultimate tool of justice and developing a god complex, Light begins using the notebook to kill all criminals while playing a cat-and-mouse game with the authorities and an eccentric PI known only as L.
Stanfield will be joining stars Nat Wolff and Margaret Qualley, who play Americanized versions of Light Yagami and Light’s love interest Misa Amane. The film will be directed by Adam Winguard and published on Netflix. “Death Note” currently has no release date.
