“Thor: Ragnarok“ is about to begin production, just as Marvel Studios reveals new cast members for the third Thor film. Cate Blanchett is set to introduce the first female villain for the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Hela, Queen of the Dead. Jeff Goldblum will be coming to the Cinematic Universe as well, as the character the Grandmaster. Also being introduced is Tessa Thomson as the hero Valkyrie while Karl Urban will be playing another villain named Skurge. A old MCU character will also be coming to Thor’s world, as Mark Ruffalo will be reprising his role as Bruce Banner aka the Hulk.
Producer and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had this to say on the new cast: “The continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with the additions of Cate, Jeff, Tessa, Karl, and Mark to the cast we have the makings of his most dangerous and heroic adventure yet. The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honor, and having all of them is incredible.”
Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Idris Elba (Heimdall), and Anthony Hopkins (Odin) will also be returning for the film. The movie is directed by Taika Waititi, with Stephany Folsom, Craig Kyle, and Christopher Yost writing the script. “Thor: Ragnarok” is set to release November 3, 2017.
