Out of all the new characters that are being introduced into “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,“ only Felicity Jones‘ character, Jyn Erso, has been revealed with some backstory detail. However, in a recent interview with Sky News, actor Mads Mikkelsen revealed major details on his character, saying: “I read the script, it was very beautiful. Felicity [Jones] plays this lovely, strong woman and I play her [pauses] father. That was too much, I’m sorry.”
So, Mikkelsen clearly is playing a pivotal character in “Rogue One.” Usually with this actor, as seen in villanous performances in “Casino Royale,” NBC‘s “Hannibal,” and the upcoming “Doctor Strange,“ he would not be the father-figure type. It will be interesting to see the actor play a possible good guy, if Jyn’s father is actually good. There were previous rumors that Jones’ character would be the daughter of famed bounty hunter Boba Fett, so there may be a chance that Mikkelsen will be playing this character.
The film will also star Ben Mendelsohn, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, and Forest Whitaker, with Gareth Edwards directing a script by Chris Weitz.”Rogue One” is set to release December 16,2016.
