“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” has officially dropped it’s first trailer. In the trailer, it begins with the main character Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) being brought into a rebel base in handcuffs for forgery, possession of stolen property, and assault. Jyn’s reason for this is simply, this is a rebellion and she is rebelling. As the Death Star is being built, Jyn is offered a chance by the base leader Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) to partake in a mission, one which involves stealing plans for the Imperial Empire’s mysterious weapon. Shots of Jyn, a companion (Diego Luna), and other rebels can be seen evacuating as an emergency horn blares out. There are shots of a white-clad imperial officer (Ben Mendelsohn), along with shots of a new type of black-clad stormtrooper. The trailer ends with a heavily armored and weary rebel (Forest Whitaker) asking Jyn what she will do if she is captured by the Empire.
The film will also star Riz Ahmed, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, and Wen Jiang. The movie is directed by Gareth Edwards and written by Chris Weitz.
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” will land in theaters December 16, 2016.
