“Deadpool” continues to enjoy success, having recently become the highest grossing “X-Men” movie. First, the movie earned the spot for the highest grossing R-rated movie and now this. It is currently grossing $355 million in the United States and $395 million internationally, in total $750 million dollars. The movie, still playing in theaters, has already surpassed sales from “X-Men: Days of Future Past”, which finished at $747.8 million.

Deadpool“, directed by Tim Miller and starring Ryan Reynolds, was a topic of controversy at the time of its release because of its R-rating. Clearly, the explicit nature of the movie hasn’t stunted any monetary success. It was released on February 12th and now, almost two months after its release, theaters continue to sell tickets for showings. There is no telling what the movie will have grossed by the time it closes.

It has been said that “Deadpool 2” is already in the works, and will remain in the hands of writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Reynolds will be returning as Deadpool and, as teased in the post-credit clips, comic character Cable will be incorporated in the movie sequel. Casting has begun for the role of Cable, but no one has been cast. In an interview with Adam Chitwood for Collider.com, Reese said that ideally, the sequel would hit theaters in about two years. While these early development decisions for “Deadpool 2” are being made, “Deadpool” continues to break records and rake in money at box offices around the world.
